Top 10 dream cars
High-end luxury and sports cars stir the imagination, yet few will ever be able to buy them. This crowd-sourced list of dream cars consists of models frequently viewed at Cars.com but rarely drawing buyer inquiries. Cars.com editors name their dream cars here. What car do you dream of owning?
The Lamborghini $354,000-$450,000 Murcielago & slightly cheaper cousin Gallardo? The Maybach Type 62? The Rolls-Royce Ghost, Phantom & Phantom Drophead Coupe? The Aston Martin V8 Vantage & DBS, Bentley Continental GTC and the oh so cheap Bentley Continental GT at $185K?

awesome ???................shudder
My dream car: 1967 Corvette Convertible, black on black on black with the 435 bhp/427 engine.
IMO, it’s the apex of the Corvette.
Talk about lipstick on a pig, That is a ford Granada with a perm.
What car do you dream of owning?
1971 Chevy Nova with the small inline 6 (200 cu in? ...manifold cast with the head) and a 2 speed powerslop transmission. 2 or 4 door...don’t care.
If I could have one & only one sportscar, it would be a 1959 Austin Healey 100/6. For the sound of that muffler alone. :shiver: Or maybe a 3000 (1960?)
for the roll up windows instead of side curtains.
I came home from the hospital in a TR 2 1/2 (Triumph) & my dad had a 1957 Jaguar roadster after that. I miss sportscars so much, but not breaking down all the time.
They’re like potato chips.
Thanks for the LUSCIOUS thread, Bender. VERY nice diversion!
Those were some nice cars. I go with any Dusenberg. Maybe a supercharged Austin, a 1955 Hudson hornet, or a 34 Ford coupe. For ride and comfort a Nash Ambassador. I think a Dusie would do between 3 and 100+ mph in high gear in 30s roads.
but my all-time favorite hands down is still the '68 Shelby Cobra:
Basic industrial strength car with flash and trash.
My buddy has a Factory 5 with a 427.
It’s terrifying. At least for me LOL.
For me the same car and engine in dark blue with chrome side pipes.
0 to 100 to 0 in 12.8 seconds.
Bill Holden needs to take his foot and rear end off of that classic Nash-Healey.
Sheesh!
I would gladly take that too. :)
Agreed that some of those are ugly but at least they had personality unlike today’s boring cookie cutter vehicles.
You left out the Pinto, Gremlin and Pacer of the 70s mistakes. Now, a ‘78 Monte Carlo was the best car ever! Power, smooth ride, roomy, cool and better mileage than what I have now.
The real thing with its hand hammered aluminum body with the ladder frame and 427 was a machine that would scare the hair off a gorilla. I never got to ride in a 427 but did the 289 and it was very impressive. Very light weight, just barely over two thousand pounds and with just a little over 300 hp, it was very quick for me, a high school kid.
The 427 was just in the category of “it oughta be against the law!”
Yeah there are no electronic driver aids like the modern supercars.
I would like to have an original 1963-64 289 AC cobra. They are alot more streetable.
Mylar?? Hardly. It was Vellum. Mylar is a new-fangled invention.
With that being said, I never liked the junkster Jag XKE. For some reason it reminded me of a penis with full attachments on wheels........I laugh every time I see one.
