The woman at the well received “living water”. The old testament speaks of God causing “springs of living water to arise in our souls”. The Bible speaks of “times of refreshing”. 1 Peter 1:8-9 states:Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
God thru his son Jesus has promised to “Be with us always, even unto the end of the World!” These times of refreshing that come to Christians are part of that promise as a reminder (and a warning in part) that God is always looking over our shoulder...whether we are comfortable at times with that reality....or especially at times when aren’t!
Yes, ge is always with us.
John 7:38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
It is true, that Christians here and there may get special ministrations and visitations as part of the ongoing process of the “working out of their salvations”, some get special spiritual surgery. God does call certain ones to special ministry...though we are all called to share the gospel to every creature where ever possible. Sometimes....certain folks just need a hug...and the Holy Spirit, if not directly by Christ himself, will give it to them! There are ministering angels that may very well attend to suffering Christians the same way they attended to Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. Some Christians have sudden deliveries from alcohol and drug addictions. Many attest to healings from real documented diseases.
Sometimes God’s Joy comes but when we try to intellectually grasp at it, as though to possess it in prideful fashion it flits a way like a butterfly. When it comes back... let it just rest there and bask in God’s love. When going thru trials, remember those times of refreshing...they will come again. And someday... in glorified bodies, we shall be with HIM in Joy forever!
