“Diversity/Outreach and other essential services will not be affected.”

Those are the first useless government leaches that should be fired!

Nor will Obamacare. Obama has already said Obamacare gets started no matter what.

Obama is right on target, Screw the military first.

Democrats would back him up if he cooked and ate his children.

Yeah, like people can’t shop elsewhere for awhile. I actually wish the Fedgov would shut down and show people again how uneccessary much of it is. What a National Park is closed for awhile? So what? The checks will keep being sent.

How much can a government store really cost the taxpayers? Is it more or less than running the EPA? How much do Obama’s czars cost us? How much...

I hope the House starts passing separate non-clean continuing resolutions so that we can have a national debate on what costs are.

If the Navy base in Millington, TN is any example the prices are just as high as the local grocery store, the tiny savings in sales tax is not worth the 22 mile round trip to shop, when I can drive 2 miles to Kroger’s get gas points to boot. They are doing 4 times the gas points on certain gift cards this month. And certain food items. Hubby had .70 cents off gas this month. He fills my car from the 5 gal gas can, then fills both his car and the gas can. You are allowed 35 gals. So pick up those cards if you are going to go buy some thing or eat out, be sure to keep receipts when you buy gift cards no matter where you buy them!

BTW they just put in stupid electronic price system and huge speed bumps in a 5 mph parking lot, those cost $7K per speed bump. Wasted MONEY!

They always close things to inflict the maximum pain. They NEVER deny themselves their special privileges and never stop sending our money to jihadis.

The commissary makes more sense when stationed overseas. At home, they don’t offer too many advantages. They tend to be a little cheaper when it comes to meat and dairy. However, I live far enough away from base to make the gas cost prohibitive for me.

Let me see - commissaries TAKE IN REVENUE (the commisary system’s actual cost of goods plus a 5% “surcharge”) and are pretty much self-sustaining, so why should sequester or temporary “government shut down” require them to close? Because it will be a way of increasing how many people will be angry.

The Air Force Base I work at is over 10 miles from town. Most of the Airmen will be able to drive to the local Wal-Mart (28 mile round-trip); with gas here going for $3.76 a gallon it will significantly increase the cost to provide sustenance to one’s family. This is provided they find they have been paid come 1 Oct 13. I’m not even sure if I will see my Military retirement pay. “dear leader” sure loves to crap all over the Military. As we used to say when I first signed up for the Air Force in 1975, BOHICA!
