Had this been accepted, a larger number of Soviet Jews might have fallen into German hands, so the death toll from the Holocaust might well have been even larger than it was.
Sure. The purpose of Molotov-Ribbentrop at all was to secure Hitler’s east. And laying claim to the crown jewels of the Holy Roman Empire spelled out Hitler’s intentions only too clearly.
It would have been horrific, for Jews and for Christians and for anyone else viewed as the old guard, and the peace gained thereby for Britain only temporary.
Russian atheistic communism was horrible, but not as horrible as the overtly demonic Nazism. Buttressing Russia against Germany supported a lesser monster, one which eventually did yield to a more open model of government but not before giving the world jitters for decades.
A possible best case scenario:
Hitler takes Moscow.....as a result, Stalin and the Bolsheviks are overthrown and a new non-Communist leadership takes over the defense of Russia, and rallies the Russians to victory....And in the end, both Stalin and Hitler are out of the picture.
we forget how vast the Soviet Union was. After Moscow there is a lot of “lebensraum” all the way to to the Pacific Ocean. They would have been busy for decades rolling east.
Fatherland.
Some of the dialogue was shocking...they had the Beatles on tour, Joseph Kennedy here in the USA...well, won't spoil the plot.
And behind it all, underlying the plot, was a great Evil and rumors of the disappearance of large numbers of Jews. Oh, the war was still brewing (this is past-1960, folks!) with the Russians, who just simply never ever gave up.
Creepy book.

...and if SAURON says it's creepy....
