How to get the innocents out of the way is the dilemma. The winner would not have been satisfied with ending the conflict upon the defeat of his opponent, though.

In hind sight, we should have taken them up on that offer.

Like they would’ve honored it. Just another “Peace for our time” redux, even worse since it was after the war was kicked off.

we forget how vast the Soviet Union was. After Moscow there is a lot of “lebensraum” all the way to to the Pacific Ocean. They would have been busy for decades rolling east.

Israel didn’t exist until 1948.

It would have left them greatly weakened, which would have given the West the advantage.

It’s no coincidence that the two major axis powers were on each end of the USSR.

Russia couldn’t fight back as it was without US help.
The worst case scenario is a Germany with its eastern flank secure, never mind a bigger death toll of the Jews, Gypsies, and many other minorities.

Yes, he did. Churchill knew that England was low man on the totem poll (under FDR and Stalin) and he made the most of it.

Still and all, Hitler didnt have to declare war on the USA on 12/11/41, thus saving himself a lot of grief. But he did. Save FDR a lot of grief. He was going to war with Germany regardless. Hitler saved him the hassle of convincing us to go along with it. (I think it was the right decision, but they gave too much help to the Soviets because of all the commie influence in the US government.)

What about Poland? Lithuania? Latvia? Hitler considered most of Poland as part of Germany, so that would not have been negotiable. Same with Austria.
France would have to lose at least Alsace and Lorraine, no way Hitler was giving that back.
What about the West's treaties with Poland which they basically ignored anyway when Poland was invaded? What about all of the Jews from Germany to Moscow and beyond?
To: MacMattico
Those are just minor details to the crowd that thinks the USA could have gotten away with staying out of the war while those two powers duked it out. Remember Woodrow Wilson’s re-election campaign slogan (and famous last words), “He Kept Us Out Of War” . . . and once a tyrant claims the crown jewels of Charlemagne for himself as Adolf did, he ain’t going to stop at anything.
