A possible best case scenario:

Hitler takes Moscow.....as a result, Stalin and the Bolsheviks are overthrown and a new non-Communist leadership takes over the defense of Russia, and rallies the Russians to victory....And in the end, both Stalin and Hitler are out of the picture.

Exactly. Instead, our glorious leaders Churchill and FDR allied themselves with the genocidal Stalin, and it certainly wasn’t to save the Jews.

Always the “bad guys destroy each other without us having to get involved” scenario.

Right, that’s rich! Peace in our time. Only needed lebensraum in the Sudetenland.

Keep in mind that our government was overrun with actual commie agents at the time, and they always whispered in FDR’s ear about the need to save the Soviets.

I have indeed seen “Mission To Moscow”, so yes, I did get a sense of what was going on back then.

Still and all, Hitler didn’t have to declare war on the USA on 12/11/41, thus saving himself a lot of grief. But he did.

Churchill detested Stalin and Communism.

This story looks fishy to me. I was a Navy brat in those days and my family moved to Norfolk in the Spring of 1941, shortly after my father shipped out for service in the Atlantic fleet ... and convoys were leaving Norfolk frequently, carrying materials like coal to places like Russia. After we went to war, German subs were waiting to sink ships just outside Cheseapeake Bay, where the convoys came together. I remember seeing nighttime flashs from ship explosions off Virginia Beach, and then seeing beaches covered with oil — inside the bay.

Having beaten and humiliated France, taken over Denmark and Norway and bombed the bejeezus out of Britain, Hitler really thought he could just say ''Sorry it's all been a big mistake. I meant to attack the Soviet Union. Sorry for the mess. I'll be leaving now'';. Hitler went ballistic when he found out what Hess had done. Everyone involved in Hess's hare-brained scheme, from the Luftwaffe officer who taught Hess to fly to the two Luftwaffe officers who drove to Berchtesgaden to give him the news were arrested.

Hess was a peculiar character , some what dim witted and obsessed with astrology with a wide streak of melancholy . Hitler suffered him only because Hess had been in prison at Landsberg in the same cell with him. It was Hess whom Hitler dictated “Mein Kampf’’to but as time went on after coming to power Hitler grew increasingly annoyed by Hess and his peculiarities.

Newsflash from Washington D.C.

After being wakened early from their pre-afternoon naps not realizing this was from 1941 John Mc Cain, Graham, Bob Corker and Tom Coburn issued a press release that supported the arrangement offered By the Germans saying “why risk going to war. It’s a lost cause. We would never succeed attempting to take up arms against the German war machine.”

John McCain was last seen asking Ed Henry from Fox News if he ate the Strawberries . Mr. Graham stated he had nothing more to offer given his haste to leave for a meeting with Barney Frank to get in touch with his inner self.

Yeah, and all. Hitler wanted was a little piece of Czechoslovakia. “Peace in our time.”

“I don’t want war! All I want is peace...peace...peace...!
A little piece of Poland,
A little piece of France,
A little piece of Austria
And Hungary, perchance!
A little slice of Turkey
And all that that entails,
And then a bit of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales!”

Don’t forget Hitler threatening the State of Israel over any more aggressive moves against the (Nazi-funded) “Palestinians” . . .

Because Hitler thought in return the Japs would help him fight the Russians.....The Japs weren't that stupid.

It never made much sense for Hess to have “gone rogue” and done this. He was way too fanatical to do anything like that.

Makes a lot more sense if Hitler just wanted to deny any involvement if the offer was shot down.

I always believe Hess went to England on Hitler’s orders.
Hess didn’t take a dump unless the Fuhrer told him to.

It would explain why they kept Hess locked up in solitary until he died. No one could know what he offered.

The State of Isreal came into being on 14 May 1948 ... after Hitler's death.

Take a look at the post I was replying to. Were people like John McCain and Lindsey Graham in politics back in 1941?

At least for the time being.

Re Hitler, I'm glad you added that last line. Giving him Russia (the USSR) would have been the ultimate in appeasement and it wouldn't have worked either.

Hitler and Stalin in a battle to the death?

I would have taken that deal in a second.
