The closer a country/state is to Mexico, the lower it scores, curiously.
These sort of assessments are never fair to the US... primarily because we educate everyone till their 18. Most of the kids graduating at 18 in other countries are the cream of the crop. The non academic kids leave school at 16, and go on to study a trade or apprentice themselves somewhere.
