M14 (M1A) is my all time favorite rifle.

My father served in the Marines in the late 50s early 60s, and agrees with you. He's in his 70s now, but still puts rounds through one (civilian), though he really prefers to shoot his Remington 1911 R1. I'm hoping to inherit both when the inevitable, sad day comes.

When I was at Quantico in 1968 we qualified with the M14. It was my first real contact with any weapon of consequence. Even though the M16 was being used in the field the M14 was still the training rifle. I'd like to get one for myself.

When I was in Vietnam I carried a Remington 12 gauge pump, with sawed off barrel. I'd like to have one of those again too!
