William Bouguereau is the greatest. I used to have a print of this one, "Song of the Angels", hanging in my house. But I gave it to a friend and it got smashed during a move...

Now that painting looks like something taken by a camera.

I bet he had real models for that painting and my, all those girls really look angelic.

No, that is terrible sentimentalism.

That painting is a perfect illustration of how far the art world has rejected technical quality and beauty in art. I have seen that painting in person. It is not located in a museum. William Bouguereau fell out of favor so much that museums stopped displaying his work, and sold the paintings off for cheap. The current owner of that painting is the Forest Lawn cemetary in Los Angeles, where they display it in their chapel. I don’t know what they bought it for, but it was most likely extremely cheap.

I think Bouguereau is about the best also. Read that
he reached his height in the late 19th C. just as the Impressionists were coming onto the scene.

When asked who they thought who was the best, they
agreed it was Bouguereau. Soon after in just a few
decades, the art world DEvolved into dada(against all aspects of Western culture).

Thanks for your posting pic.
