The mere threat from my parents of my butt being introduced to the business end of a belt was enough to keep me well behaved.

Everything seemed normal until Ryan wandered away from the table, as children sometimes do. I don't know what kind of morons let their kids wander from the table but that kind of crap was never allowed in my family.

As soon as a person says the word disrespect all my sympathy goes away. Use of that word says a lot about attitudes and probable behaviour.
Ditto. I get the feeling they got the respect they deserved.

Why would a restaurant and restaurant manager involve police if it is simply asking them to leave? Th only reasons that I can think of that would cause the restaurant to even consider getting the police involved:
1. Upon being asked to leave, they refused.
2. Upon being asked to leave, they decided not to pay for their meal. (Doubtful that they'd call for that reason, but possible.)
The article never states any reason for the restaurant calling the police.

Disrespect is ghetto terminology. I suspect these people have a ghetto outlook on life. Bingo. My spidey-senses went off the chart when I read that word. I instantly sided with the restaurant. The sloppy writing didn't help their case either.

Your money is better spent elsewhere.
But maybe I’ll give them one more shot after reading this story.

Exactly, and it's wormed its way into everyday use. I hate it. I slap people down every time I hear it. It's like "I axed him a question." That's ghetto lingo, and I won't tolerate it from anybody.

“I had to laugh when I saw the photo of this family. The kids can’t even stay still long enough to get their picture taken. Dad looks like he’s going to lose the youngest and is holding on for dear life.”
I did not notice till you pointed that out! Thanks for doing so, you are correct. I now wonder that Applebee’s had to put up with. Ma and Pa should have just gotten a sitter.

The thing is, if the kids had run in front of a waitress and caused her to drop hot food on them, the parents would be lining up to sue. This isn't over. These ghetto-dwellers will be suing very soon.

Whenever we go out and I see well behaved kids, I always pass by the family’s table and give them an attaboy. Never have failed to receive a smile in return.

The concept of “being disrespected” is an excuse for violent, inappropriate (I repeat myself) behavior. That’s why I won’t tolerate it.

They showed up AT 9:15PM. Headline should read “Applebee’s called police on family one hour past what should have been their kids bedtime.”
