In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

aegis (EE-jis) noun
Protection, support, guidance, or sponsorship of a particular person or organization.

Example sentence:
"The French hope that by April an African force will have come under the UN's aegis.
--"The Battle Moves to the Mountains; The Economist (London, UK); Feb 9, 2013.

Etymology:
From Latin aegis, from Greek aigis (goatskin), from aix (goat). Aigis was the name of the shield or breastplate of Zeus or Athena in Greek mythology. It was made of goatskin. Earliest documented use: 1704.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

It’s like the clinton mess, only amped up to 11. I wish they were gone already. A+ for you.

Congratulations to him!

A wedding one year from now? Are you crazy? Can you even get a priest and a hall on the same day with only a years’ notice?

Say she just made soup.

My wife will fill a used pan with soapy water and let it sit.

I will take advantage of the fact that it is warm and clean it right away.

And the other pet peeve, starting to cook without putting the dishes in the drainer away.

Harder to do the immediate clean on the pans if the drainer is full of stuff.

xshub checked availability at Army Navy CC and first openings are in Sept. I don’t think that Holy Rosary will be a problem, but will call them once she has a chance to talk to the affianced.

And they can be registered at the Army Navy store, too! ;-)

Someone at my work is selling candy bars for diabetes.

OK, juvenile diabetes, but it still seems funny.

doesn’t sound like a good idea to have candy to raise $ for that. My 27 yo niece has juvenile diabetes, it’s a scary thing with lifelong health consequences!

Then I dont care about the mess.

Period 1-2 drainer/dishwasher.

Period 2/3
Dinner.

Get a DVR and then there is no such thing as “intermission.”

Lol we had ours at Glen Ridge CC, but the ceremony was at St.Anthonys, TLM, except it rained cats and dogs, so we were in and out of the car twice and the multicolored bouquet, ruined the left sleeve of the dress...lol...

If there is rain in the forecast, go with natural flowers.

Best fundraising Idea is the discount card. Businesses buy in, and they pay for themselves.

The programs also, can give a handful to the kids for the effort.

Big boy pulls in about 100 bucks a sports season.

I get free pretzels at philly pretzels(buy 3 get 3)

A couple bucks off at DD, on a dozen,

A free appetizer at TGIF.

On 10 bucks.

That’s what our athletic club sells. The band has a cool fundraiser. For $40 a year, they will come and put a PVC pipe in your front yard and put a big flag in it at 5 am on 5 designated American holidays and take them down at sunset. It makes the neighborhoods look more patriotic than our lazy selves would on our own. Much better than a crate of oranges.

my SIL has mentioned that they pay something in Houston for the flag thing too. That is a great fundraiser.

Why would I want someone to stuff a flag in a pipe in my yard? ;-)
