Word For The Day, September 17, 2013
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
mishpocha [mish-paw-khuh, -pookh-uh]
-n
an entire family network comprising relatives by blood and marriage and sometimes including close friends; clan.
[ (Yiddish) the entire family network of relatives by blood or marriage (and sometimes close friends)]
We shall see. Sandlot Ben scrambling for his life is no way to run a football team.
Can’t believe we won a Super Bowl doing that 08 season.
Hank revealed himself, when Walt told him, he was on a 4 month death sentence, and asked him to just drop it, for the sake of Skyler and the family.
Consider this....the conversation at the table, where Walt says, I am out...let it go for my childrens sake.
EVERY OTHER PERSON at that table, is a criminal.
Hank, committed GBH on Pinkman.
Marie, was a serial shoplifter, that got Skyler in hotwater.
Skyler knowingly cooked Teds books.
And Walts money, at some point....bailed all of them out.....
I know you will think this is hypervole.
Its not.
This is the best tragedy produced in the modern age.
There are some flaws, yes....but ots several uears, not 30 pages like Hamlet.
If you are making the effort, try to fixate, on the evolution/devolution of Walter. And as you go along, take notice of the criminal acts, of those in his circle. (see above).
Everyone who finally sits in judgement of Walter, has comitted direct criminal acts.
Irony says hello.
I’m sure Hank didn’t believe him.
But, you’re right. Hank has his hubris, too.
I do wonder, since we are talking about flaws and you mentioned Hanks’s run-in with Jesse. Hank was in some sort of trouble for his behavior. Sent home, with no gun or badge.
All that gets dropped and you are re-instated just cause some Mexicans try to kill you in a parking lot?
Maybe women don’t respond the same to Walt. I think most men of a certain age identify with the fantasy of flying away from the mundane and doing something bold.
He’s an everyman hero when he starts.
The drapery thing you were talking about sounds like some kind of a cornice/decorative top piece made of rigid material. MrT5 made cornices for the kitchen windows, but they are decorative wood-no fabric-so they can be easily cleaned-I had the fabric covered ones at my other house, and they were a bitch to keep dusted.
I love wooden cornices, and drew a plan for one made of fancy 1/4 in. plywood with a pattern of leaves cut out with my jigsaw and dremel tool-it didn’t fit the masculine décor here, but I will make it this next time around...
Sounds like you are still on Team Walt....
doesn’t interest me, even if it’s the second coming of shakespeare.
Pinkman dropped the issue. They had to reinstate him. Saul took the long view.
Thats why the issue was dropped.
that sounds lovely. yes this is somehow mounted to something. The woman who cleans them is very detail oriented and did a fantastic job of cleaning them. having zero patience, i’m pretty sure i would hurl them into the trash if i had that job!
Well, i would prefer to see Walt prevail, because...
Except for Brock, who survived...,hehas harmed no innocent people, and only tried to find a lifeline.
As a libertarian leaner, I find Hanks existence grotesque amd disgusting.
Pinkman, thoeretically made close to Walts 80 mil, and pissed it away.
I detailed the criminal activities of those judging Walt.
And Dave, the other mistake...was walt could have given a barrel to Jesse, not a gymbag.
“jesse, saul will ship you a barrel of cash, when you get wherever”
Sending him off to a life back in the jobforce,,,,,was stupid. Again, not Heisenberg.
OK. Two words for you: Hybrid Offsides.
OK, thanks. I had forgotten that or not put the two together.
It actually took me until the middle of season two.
Your Hockey analogy is spot on.
There are amazing details, but its watching his being devolve thats mindblowing.
Every situation, seems so happenstance, and/or necessary, that its the morality that is always questioned.
whatevs. no idea what that’s supposed to connote.
No. Walt gave Jesse the $5 million he would have gotten from selling the methalmine wholesale. Which is what Mike and Jesse wanted.
The barrel money was made when Walt and Todd were cooking using that methalmine.
That said, if $5 mil wasn't going to make Jesse happy and forget Drew, neither was $80.
No mention on the hockey blogs? They are testing a new rule in the preseason games and may adopt it for this season.
