Shallow little scum always go after people of great accomplishment, and the big name they set their sites on in this case is the old man, Joe Paterno. After all, nobody ever heard of the real culprits.

Look at all the shallow little nobodies who showed up on this very thread to beat up Paterno.

Hey, FR's a great site & all...but don't overrate its "targeting" capacity...

What do I mean by that?

You could have 100 FREEPERS post JoePa putdowns daily for the next umpteen years...and...guess what...???

These FREEPERs still wouldn't come close to what JoePa and Penn State already did to themselves! And that especially includes what they've done to themselves PR-wise.

For example, this article wasn't written because of how this person feels treated either by FREEPERs or people FREEPERs influence...

Therefore, it's illusive to think you can somehow blame a small contingent of FREEPERs for JoePa's & Penn State's national nefarious reputation.

We are merely representative of a common sentiment already expressed by the public-at-large.

Oh. And btw...the time between Paterno's firing & his hospitalization was over two months.

If he had wanted to eventually defend his name & his honor, he could have during that interim handpicked a trustworthy family member and/or another to record convos about these issues for future revelational posterity.

He could have "made the case" better than the "Team Paterno" release that came out last Spring...

Rather than a "Team Paterno" post-death analysis... a lengthy recorded Paterno interview would have served MUCH BETTER, especially detailing EXACTLY what he meant when he lamented that he "should have done more" in this case ... yet failed to.

Even if you don't always go to bat for yourself, if truth is on your side, then such truth...IF it was indeed pro-Paterno and pro-Penn State..would have been of broader benefit to Penn State & its programs & its stewards & its fans & its students & faculty...would it have not?

Per this Sporting News article from May 2013 In effort to clear Joe Paterno's name, latest report conjures up same questions:

"...the heart of the matter, as relates to Paterno's role in the Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal and his legacy, isn't going to change. For most who have followed this story over the past 15 months, the question hasn't been how much Paterno knew. It was, if he knew anything at all why didn't he make sure the full truth was uncovered before Sandusky could prey on another child? Team Paterno has done NOTHING to prove the late coach did all he could — or should — have done."
