STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — ...John Nichols sat in his office in the old wing of the Willard Building, across the lawn from Old Main, fuming about what people have been saying, for two years now, about the university he loves.
John Nichols, a professor emeritus, contends that a child sexual abuse scandal has unfairly defined Penn State.
The campus was bustling. The students had returned. This bucolic town’s main drag, College Avenue, had come alive. Stores sold shirts that read, “Billieve” and “O’Brien’s Lions.” Football season was close, and almost everyone seemed excited for Coach Bill O’Brien’s second year.
Nichols sat behind his large wooden desk, surrounded by four full bookshelves. He has spent 36 years at Penn State. He raised his children here. He is a professor emeritus and a former chairman of the faculty senate. Now he was talking about Jerry Sandusky and Joe Paterno and he was getting angry. He sat up straighter. His eyes bulged. He threw his hands up.
“Just this last weekend, I was with some of my closest friends in another state,” he said. “Of course the subject always comes up — always comes up. It’s like a scarlet letter. And when I say that most of what you’ve read is not true, they look at you like — even close friends — they look at you like: ‘Are you a Holocaust denier? You’ve drunk the Penn State Kool-Aid. What other conspiracy theory do you have?’
“Can you imagine the frustration when you know that there’s been a gross mischaracterization of what has happened at Penn State? And that I and my kids who graduated from Penn State, my friends and colleagues here, are going to have to live with being guilty for crimes we did not commit?”

Again - this interview was on national television a couple of weeks ago. I guess you missed it:
KETEYIAN: Do you believe that Coach Paterno was a part of the conspiracy to conceal — to cover up the crimes at Penn State by Jerry Sandusky?
[lead js prosecutor] FINA: I do not. And — and I — I’m viewing this strictly on the evidence, not any kind of fealty to anybody. I did not find that evidence.
People that live in, around and spend their entire lives around college/academia, are completely and totally detached from reality...
They have no clue.

It is known that Spanier gave js emeritus status so he could hang around the “locker room”. With all the crap about Spanier’s wife swapping, Cfest and the Sex fair, what else has been going on!
Rumor has it that there was a circle of enabling within the greater State Penn hierarchy and accolades.
Spanier rode into Penn state vowing to make the place the most “gay-friendly campus in the country”. Since that day I have told every donation solicitor who called me, “Sorry. Not a dime until Spanier is gone.” Is it any wonder a homosexual pedophile like Sandusky felt right at home on Penn State’s campus? My only question is, “Who else in the Penn State administration is a homosexual pedophile?” The answer probably lies in who was most active in Second Mile.
Rumour has it that the pedophile ring was supplying Washington D.C. Easier than traveling to Thailand.
Listen...and please listen well: There are cover-ups by commission -- of which it's hard to prove JoePa was guilty of ... and then there's cover-ups by omission...which is all too easy to conclude in this case.
JoePa was a literal "god" on campus. He was in the post Sandusky shower years STILL at that time THE most powerful man on campus.
He hired the shower eyewitness onto his staff as a wide receivers coach AFTER the shower stall report.
All he ever had to do was to have one little convo with his asst coach -- asking if the authorities had ever followed up on that report. [Upon which he could have pushed his supposed "superiors" on campus further as to why it was never "handled" properly...I say supposed "superiors" because at one point JoePa was still powerful enough to throw his weight around campus had he so chosen]
Either that little convo didn't happen...which was outright neglect...or, he found out the answer & pursued NOTHING further that would have removed his name from the ensuing taint.
This same wide receiver coach then cont'd up the "reward" progression ... being named head of recruiting. So, JoePa & others who "Hired" him as WR coach & then head of recruiting could "research" all they want about the man they were in the process of hiring...but they couldn't find out one simple thing about the lack of authorities' pursuit of what he saw in the Penn State shower?
Sorry...there IS such a thing as common-sense credulity.
Per the Grand Jury Presentment (2010): McQueary reported that he saw: 'fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy'

#1: So your "wasn't clear about what he saw" is perhaps a distinction of sodomy/rape vs. "fondling" or other sexual abuse.
#2: Remember that some of the jury that convicted Sandusky were diehard Nittany Lion fans. So, of course, they would vote for a "not guilty" on the one charge that was closest to the dagger of the heart of Penn State and Paterno. They wanted Sandusky properly "hung"; but they wanted the controversy to be as straight-armed as possible away from Penn State/Paterno.
Yeah, you and the rest of the pathetic lynch mob keep repeating that myth. Paterno was a highly respected football coach who did more for thousands of young people and a university than somebody like you could ever hope to do. Paterno was an old man who coached the football team - - he wasn't a cop or an investigator or a prosecutor. Throw your crap at all the people - - and there's plenty of them - - who were supposed to DO something about Sandusky and quit smearing the reputation of somebody who's not around to defend himself. Get some class. And shove that "god" stuff up your rear end.
