Word For The Day, Thursday, May 2, 2013 panegyric
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
panegyric; noun. a lofty oration or writing in praise of a person or thing; eulogy. 2. formal or elaborate praise.Origin: 15901600; < Latin, noun use of panēgyricus of, belonging to a public assembly < Greek panēgyrikós, equivalent to panḗgyr ( is ) solemn assembly ( pan- pan- + -ēgyris, combining form of ágyris gathering; cf. category) + -ikos -ic
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
Here is my example with >> WFTD.
Today will forever be a day of panegyrics.
subbing today for the Truth, who is at Disneyworld in his role as GRANDPAP.
The last time I was at the airport, I got one of those Au Bon Pangyros.
A+++ i am hoping that my kitchen will be done by lunchtime, but the guys are not here yet to begin the final touches.
Morning!
morning : )
History will be devoid of any laudatory panegyric for this current White House occupant.
A+++ if there are sane historians that is!
Subbing for the Truth?
You can’t handle the truth; but not to worry; you won’t have to. Today will be a day of Panicked Gyrations from Washington and the lick-spittle Press, running around with their hair on fire because Putin is using unconventional warfare, called diplomacy, instead of the expected thug tactics with which they are more comfortable.
Good Morning!
Let me offer my panegyric for the 2 Colorado dems recalled.
Panegyric
To break this down for any sluggos who have not had the benefit of phootonic spelling: tending to pans and gyrations, panegyric. Try thinking of Martha Stewart doing the bossa nova while cooking up a batch of crème purina la canine. It’s all good.
excellent! A++++
eloquent A+++
A++++ laughingstocks, the lot of them.
Yes, indeedy. It’s a great day for the 2nd Amendment.
Last nights 15 minute speech was a national embarrassment, just like boy Hussein himself.
OOHRAH! A great day for liberty!
Yesterday was an incredible day for news/politics junkies.
As someone on twitter said, we should be relieved it's ONLY his finger that he gave to the crowd!
Didn’t watch it, had no intention of listening to a word from him. We were celebrating the job offer that xsteen’s boyfriend got yesterday, which means they can move forward towards getting engaged etc.
Grandkids are truly the Fountain of Youth. I'm doubly fortunate that my youngest son will be 12 in a few months. Those two really keep me in a youthful state of mind.
I had the great pleasure of watching my 3 YO grandson on Monday. We wore each other out with numerous games of "Steal Opa's Seat", while enjoying a continuous loop of "Cars 2". He zonked out at 3, and woke up over 2 hours later (a rare occurrence).
