The head of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said Congress must seize on a "once-in-a-generation" chance to pass comprehensive immigration reform when it comes back from its August recess next week.
Writing in the New York Daily News, Timothy Dolan, who is also archbishop of New York, invoked Pope Francis and Martin Luther King, Jr. in arguing that immigration reform would help families and the economy while improving the country's security.

Church leaders tend to render unto Caesar what is Caesars....not so much the people who are governed by Caesar. Sorry your eminence no disrespect but mind your business...we donât need any more government freebies for the dregs among us and we certainly donât need to be importing more of them!!!
The 'Once-in-a-Generation' part is the problem.
Degenerate SOB just wants more cash
Most of the illegals are Catholic
He is truly disgusting
“They overwhelmingly vote for the most anti-Christian, anti-life, anti-Constitutionalist politicians”.
Not so.
“Exit polls from the highly-contentious 2012 presidential race show that Obama captured 50 percent of this coveted cohort, with Romney taking 48 percent of adherents”
“Catholics who report attending church weekly voted for Romney over Obama 57 percent to 42 percent”
In otherwords Catholics voted exactly like protestants, the ones that live their faith voted majority GOP. The ones that don’t attend Church supported the anti-Christian. The Catholics that voted for Obama are also anti-Catholic. You can’t be a Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church and vote for pro-abortion, pro-sodomite “marriage” candidates. If you do you have given away your right to be identified a Catholic. But the Obama-loving media never tells anyone this. They want everyone to think that Obozo won the “Catholic vote” overwhelmingly. That’s anything but the truth.
The ones that did vote overwhelmingly for him are BLACK PROTESTANTS, who do attend Church regularly. Can you say hypocrite?
He’s right. The Jesuits have there own leader - or the Black Pope that they have followed and many have no love for the Pope the world sees.
The internal political wresting is monumental.
I can understand why the early Protestants believed what they did but the world now is a bit more complicated. Soteriology and Ecclesiology were the issues of the day not Eschatology. That is why Calvin and Luther for all their prodigious output had big blanks and nothing to say over Romans chapters 9-11. They couldn’t understand and see with clarity the things not for their generation. Spurgeon hinted and shared that sentiment. Now this generation is the one that should be able to see more clearly in regards to Eschatology.
You’d see him on EWTN — as you can now. Sometimes they run his old show.
As I’ve taken to doing as well.
I’ve gone back and started reading Luther’s works - but in the original German, where I can find them. What he saw then and what we see today aren’t far different.
BTW, thumbs-up on your handle. I’m a firm believer that the .45 Colt is widely under-appreciated for what it can deliver from modern firearms with proper chamber sizes. With a .45LC, there’s no need for a .44 Mag.
I have said for years that we should saturate the US-Mexican border with landmines. This would greatly enhance our border patrol efforts.
You mean the (pro-sodomite) media would try to foment division between Catholic and Protestant believers?
Whodathunkit?
The politics of division continue...
A close friend of mine just republished one of Sheen's books which was first released in 1940, I believe. Very timely.
BUNK.
America already has far more immigration reform, than the rest of the entire globe.
Stop it.
Bring back American jobs. For Americans.
Stop importing more American employees.
Now.
Didn’t Congress already do that back @1986? Something about Simpson-Mazzoli comes to mind.
Georgetown University being the absolute worst.
If that was directed at me, you’re yelling at the wrong guy. I completely oppose this.
I wasn’t referring to Catholics. I was referring to immigrants.
If you have paid attention to what the Jesuits have been doing in the last fifty years, you would know.
The Jesuits have become a string of assisted-living facilities located on formerly-Catholic university campuses.
How about we pass a once a generation resolution to enforce our laws?
From a purely financial perspective, the illegals offer nothing to the Church. They take public benefits (compliments of my income) and their cash to Mexico. If you want to go after a group that has money, push for a fair tax code and school vouchers so that the middle class can once again send their kids to parochial school and grow the faith and be able to donate from their heart. Catholic schools are closing all over New York because parents who live in the suburbs cannot afford ridiculous property taxes and Catholic school education.
Dolan has lost all of my respect. Sorry, your eminence, you do not speak for me. Go through any illegal ghetto and you will see exactly what these ‘catholics’ do—drink excessively, trash their neighborhood, beat their women, and piss in public. That is not living the Catholic faith. I was taught to ‘do unto others’ and treat people the way that I wished to be treated. That did not include sponging off others.
Yet somehow one of their own is the white pope. You may be right, but I don’t buy it.
