Agree. Having permanent bases in Iraq would not have stemmed the chaos we see today in the Mid East. We have the ability to base all around the Mid East. Gibraltar, Sigonella, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Crete, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Djibouti, Diego Garcia. Not to mention Israel. Not even mentioning carriers and Marine flat tops.

International finance? Yeah, pretty much the bane of everyone be they leftist or right-wing. That international finance can be government controlled or black market, whoever is flashing the dollars around. No pol, be they GOP or Dem, left or right, liberal or conservative, is telling the truth. Not a one. They’re all liars. It’s the nature of the animal.

We didn’t maintain a military presence in Iraq because we were unable to reach a status of forces agreement (SOFA) with the Iraqi government (meaning our service members were subject to their laws), and because Obama was just as keen to be seen as ending that war. Without a SOFA, no president would keep US forces in a supposedly friendly nation. It’s too important to protect our rights.

Think about this. An attack on Syria could be the start of WWIII. There are millions of people in adjacent countries that just love to kill Americans, And you can bet they will support Syria, whatever they do. I think we have to find a better way to shut down Assad forever.
