Perhaps “known” isn’t the right phrase, “strongly suspected” might be better.
I hated the music my parents liked. It was awful elevator type music.

Yepper...The youngest person i work with is 24...He knows every rock or country song from the 70’s...He may not know who sings them but he can sing along with them just the same.
