Some of our 70's music tastes overlap (Grand Funk Railroad), but a lot of it is different. Skynyrd, AC/DC, and Van Halen are more my preference. I remember most of the 80's stuff. Parents didn't care for most of it, although they didn't have a strong dislike for most of it unless it was a "bad singer".
My 30 year old son announced he was now into Christian music.
My mom had records that I liked and still like to this day. Kay Starr , Frankie Laine, Johnny Horton, Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, The Royal Guardsmen, Rodger Miller, Kitty Wells and so many others. I like rock and country from the 70’s, 80’s and some from the 90’s mostly.
Making children listen to “When Doves Cry” sounds like child abuse to me.
That sign is PRICELESS! Thanks for sharing it.
That was great! Thanks for sharing your “usmic” with us. :)
Our daughter actually put on a pretty rocking “classic rock” radio station the other morning and the little grandbaby was loving it too. He loves music and he esp. seemed to like the Talking Heads, in fact he danced just like David Byrne. Too cute!
We were saying that just today when we were listening to "our" music.
That is a great tune and really holds up, I heard it just the other day and I thought: this is one of the few songs that you enjoy every single time you hear it.
I think The Animals’ version of “St. James Infirmary” is also great, it’s sort of like a lost classic. I’ve never heard it on the radio or anything, but I had it on an album years ago.
Exactly!!!
Ohhhh really, Ive known this for years without any study.
Yepper...The youngest person i work with is 24...He knows every rock or country song from the 70’s...He may not know who sings them but he can sing along with them just the same.
Hubby loved that pic, too funny!
I HATE that song with a passion!
Music's never been better. Every style and type of music you could ever want to hear is still being made and can be found on the internet and in the clubs.
The crap on the radio sucks, but it's always been that way. People remember Creedence and Zeppelin but forget Sean Cassidy and The Starland Vocal Band.
Here’s one from my youth that doesn’t get much airplay these days.
Ram Jam - Black Betty
Say what you want but that is still a great song...Classic cranked Marshall with a Les Paul...these guys rocked that tune.
I’ve always had a great love for a lot (but not all) of the music my folks played while I was growing up in the 50’s and 60’s.
