The man was unaware that his leg had become tangled in a rope attached to the pot, and was quickly pulled overboard and dragged under by the weight. How can it be that a man doing that kind of work, didn't make a sheath knife a part of his work clothes.

I never go into the woods or on the water without a sheath knife. I suspect some leftist moron taught him that "knives are bad", so he drowned with no "bad" tools on him.

Have you ever watched Deadliest Catch? Things like that happen so fast there is almost no time to react. It’s also likely that he may have been knocked unconscious by getting slammed into the rail as the pot dragged him over the side.
