To: Boiler Plate

I read that pirate talk to a great extent came from Robert Newton who was Long John Silver in the 1950 Disney movie.

Apparently the area of England where he was born they really do talk a bit like that.

I forgot to mention the movie was “Treasure Island” of course.

Some of it came from the book such as “15 men on a dead mans chest, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum”.

Are you implying that Talk Like a Pirate Day is some kind of trumped up hoax and not a celebration of our true cultural heritage?
