NEW YORK (AP) Fast-food customers in search of burgers and fries on Thursday might run into striking workers instead.
Organizers say thousands of fast-food workers are set to stage walkouts in dozens of cities around the country, part of a push to get chains such as McDonald's, Taco Bell and Wendy's to pay workers higher wages.
It's expected be the largest nationwide strike by fast-food workers, according to organizers. The biggest effort so far was over the summer when about 2,200 of the nation's millions of fast-food workers staged a one-day strike in seven cities.
Thursday's planned walkouts follow a series of strikes that began last November in New York City, then spread to cities including Chicago, Detroit and Seattle. Workers say they want $15 an hour, which would be about $31,000 a year for full-time employees. That's more than double the federal minimum wage, which many fast food workers make, of $7.25 an hour, or $15,000 a year.

Everybody is angry these days. makes ya want to just stay home.. and cook .
"If I were a frachise owner and my employees went on strike, Presto, the next day they would be out of a job. Plain and simple."
Nailed it.
when I do eat fast food, I always aim for a non-franchise. I bet they will be busy tomorrow!
*Yawn* Nobody cares. Those jobs were never intended to be ‘permanent’.
I don’t think that bunch could do any more then take out the garbage.
Do a Reagan on them. The minute they walk out the door, fire them. Have a contingent to fill in immediately.
In this job market, the union thugs could get their backs broken.
If management found out who was willing to participate and who was not, offer a bonus to those who stayed on the job.
As for the union rabble “picketing” in your lot? Its the franchisees’ lot, therefore private property, therefore defiant trespass.
Have them arrested and PRESS CHARGES.
You can snip this crap in the bud, if you have balls.
I have to imagine that any of these fast-food places has a stack of resumes from folks wanting to work there.
Thursday is eat healthy day!
I’d tend to think that a min wage job is about on par with the typical “menu” of welfare benefits available, so showing up 40 hrs a week seems like an awfully big hassle.
I don’t eat that garbage anyway. Now that I see who prepares it, I guess I ain’t missing a thing.
The managers need to have an employment line out the back of their place and fire the dorks who are picketing. These jobs are easily refilled.
After the last two restaurants we’ve been to we ARE going to stay home and cook.
It’s the end of the month and nothing on the EBT cards?
no fast food worker, without a high school education, maintaining a “B” average, should be allowed to strike.
