"The current public reaction to twerking is reminiscent in some ways of how the twisting craze was regarded in the early 1960s, when it was first popularized by Chubby Checker's song, 'The Twist'," Connor-Martin said. "Only time will tell if twerking will similarly be embraced by the general public." Lol! They are comparing twerking to "the twist". Talk about defining deviancy downward! Twerking looks like some primative mating ritual from darkest Africa. The first time I see a grandma twerking at a wedding reception, that's it, I'm heading for the hills.

"The update brings in words that the publication's editors feel have penetrated popular culture"As lexicographers, they should KNOW popular culture lasts ... what? ... 10 years?
But their idiot insertion will be there forever.

By the way, since there’s 6 billion people in this world, women have been “twerking” for a very long time. The only thing new about is she did it in a public setting.

Twerk is derived from “tw*t” and “jerk.” It means moving the hips to simulate sexual intercourse. Once again, we can’t even get the truth from a liberal dictionary.
