Clever, but incorrect in your thinking.

If Cruz runs, it will be up to you to challenge him in court, because if you don't and he wins he will be President. That you or any other conservative would do that is categorically insane. That you would prefer Christie or Hillary over this niggling Pharisaical issue is once again, categorically insane.

Clever, Lake, but incorrect in your thinking.

“If Cruz runs, it will be up to you to challenge him in court, because if you don’t and he wins he will be President. That you or any other conservative would do that is categorically insane. That you would prefer Christie or Hillary over this niggling Pharisaical issue is once again, categorically insane.”

I like Ted Cruz. He’s my senator. I voted for him and will vote for him again if he ends up running for a second term. Or for Governor.

I would love for Cruz to be a natural born Citizen and make it so I don’t have to make the decision between fulfilling my oath to Obey the Constitution as I understand it, or throwing my oath out and voting for someone just to keep a democrat out of the White House. I am so sick and tired of voting for the lesser of two evils.

You, along with some of your friends, like Jeff, Nero, Taufu, JRandom, etc., seem to think that we who don’t believe Cruz or Obama are natural born Citizens, are out to get Ted and destroy the country; to destroy any chance the Republicans have of retaking the White House. For some childish reason that most of us adults gave up in grade school (or at least jr. high), you feel the need to call us names, belittle us and try to marginalize us because we believe there’s a higher definition of natural born Citizen than just someone born in America or born somewhere in the world of one American and that there’s a legal issue here that needs to be resolved; that your citations are interpreted more correctly than “our” citations. They’re all just opinions at this point and one is as valid as another.

I don’t understand why any American would want to take a lax interpretation of a term (that is “not defined in the Constitution” - sheesh) that restricts who can be President when your country is headed down the tubes faster than Christie heading for a buffet.

I agree with you that preferring “Christie or Hillary” as President IS categorically insane. But, believing that Ted’s a shoe-in just because he runs, that if we continue to discuss his eligibility we’ll elect Hillary, that Ted’s the ONLY guy who can save the Country, that everything he says is what he would do, is also categorically insane. What if we put all our eggs in the Cruz basket, scrap someone who may show up that is almost as good or may be better (none currently on the horizon), and Cruz wins then gets thrown out because the injustices decide to STOP evading the issue?

“...niggling Pharisaical issue...”

I just don’t know how to respond to that term. At what point did we (conservatives) decide that a qualification for President is a “niggling Pharisaical issue”? That we can stop obeying the Constitution when it’s politically expedient? If it’s our guy, it’s okay to parse the Constitution, but if it’s the other guy it’s not? If we can possibly interpret a term two ways, if it’s our guy we take the broadest interpretation, but if it’s the other guy we take the narrow view? That’s liberalthink. How long before you decide that we’ve had enough violence and that the 2nd amendment is now a “niggling Pharisaical issue”? I just don’t get this mindset at ALL.

Let us bring this eligibility subject up and discuss it loud and long until it gets addressed by the appropriate people (whomever they may be) BEFORE the election. If anyone anywhere in the world however remotely connected to an American is determined to be a natural born Citizen, then so be it. We live with the consequences.

If Ted is the right man for the job, he’ll want this straightened, too. Otherwise, knowing there’s an issue and not not trying to get it resolved, he’s just another politician doing and saying anything for power. But he says it for us, so it’s okay. I’m hoping he’s setting a trap for Obama and those who lied to get him into power. We’ll see. I have the hope, I’m waiting for the change.

In the meantime, (and this is more for your friends than you Lake, although you seem to like the term “birther”) can we at least stop calling each other names and stop using pejoratives to talk about and to one another? Or, is that too much to ask?
