TV on PC Question
8-25-2013

Posted on 08/25/2013 2:43:18 PM PDT by Southnsoul

What is the best software or website to stream live TV, (including the networks) online? I would greatly appreciate any help on this.

Assuming you have a 1080p TV, it will be just the same as your HP Envy monitor, only bigger. The 27” Envy is also a 1080p display.

I rarely recommend a vendor, but when it comes to cables and such, www.monoprice.com is the best I’ve found (price wise). Especially when it comes to hdmi cables, which (I think) are way overpriced at Best-buy and even Walmart.

That sounds interesting, because I haven’t been able to find everything I want with hulu (only go for the free so far).

I am indebted to Hulu though, it kept me well occupied at a slow job I had (it was OK I was watching TV there) and by watching it I discovered Nashville, which I love.

Yup. Your TV actually becomes a sort of monitor.

“We’d love to dump cable and watch via the internet. The only problem is that our internet service is not fast enough (or consistent enough) for streaming. It’d have to be downloaded first in order to watch without lots of stops and starts.”

Yep. Without stellar internet streaming won’t work.

it’s awesome to watch training videos on youtube.

I am refinishing my garage and going to do a checkerboard pattern on the floor.

If I had not seen some concrete videos I would have screwed that up- the first bag was a mess- but after watching one video I realized that I had to dampen the floor first or it just sucked the moisture right out of the top coat befor I could smooth it.

What do I need to get in order to stream movies or websites from my computer to my flat screen TV?

Just a cord. See what kind of video card outputs you have on your computer (VGA, DVI, HDMI, etc.). You might need some kind of adapter to match it to the inputs on your TV (for example, I used to use a DVI-to-HDMI cable), but they're cheap.
