I well remember Different Drum and the airplay it got on the AM stations at the time. Nice catchy pop tune.
But the Stone Poneys opening for Paul Butterfield, or the Doors? The 60s were a strange time.

Yes, she did. I was never much of a concert goer, but a pair of tickets to a Linda Ronstadt show fell into my lap ... oh ... 40 years ago. How time flies. She sang beautifully, but what I remember is that she stood onstage almost stock-still, like a little girl afraid of the audience. Odd affect, but it worked in concert.
The best artist in concert I ever saw was Neil Diamond, also 40ish years ago. Leave aside whether you are a Neil Diamond fan or not ... he had total rapport with the audience, and was the most responsive rocker I ever saw. A class act.

She was cute back in the day, but I never cared for her music or her politics.

Sorry to hear that news about Ms. Ronstadt’s voice. My Dad died of Parkinsons...he was a big, strong man, always full of life and verve. The disease robbed Dad of all of his muscles to the point he couldn’t sit up, roll over, swallow or talk. But he would always manage a crooked smile and his eyes would gleam. Never once did he complain about his fate, either. He taught me a lot about being a man.
It is a horrible disease and I’m fearful of it.

Another singer whose music I really like but whose politics I hate.
Up there in that respect with Willie and the Beatles.
Now uncle Ted I love his politics. But not a big fan of his music.

Not entirely sure where Linda is these days, but I'm pretty sure this woman ate her.

I went to see her in concert, for the first time, about 5 or 6 years ago. She sounded fine to me after her first 2 songs. Then she went on a rant about GW Bush and I got up and left.

That is a shame, she is also a very nice person. I met her once; she already had several hit songs but you would have never known it. She visited with me for quite a while and had no “star” attitude at all. I remember thinking- WOW I am talking to someone famous, but she was just so nice.

Why does Linda Rondstadt always sing at the same speed?
She has a governor on her.
Old joke. (I'm showing my age)

Wonderful voice. Gave us music for the ages.
Sad for her that she has lost this important part of her being.
