Back in the 80’s in New Jersey, some kid was harrassing a neighborhood by riding his dirtbike down a set of train tracks after dark.
Someone got the bright idea to string piano wire across the tracks.
Don’t know if their intent was to snag the bike or not, either way the result was thus:
Nobody came forward to admit to being the piano wire idiot after the head stopped rolling on the ground.

Similar stories abound in the heartland about farmers who are tired of snowmobilers tresspassing in winter. Except they generally have a greater supply of barbed wire than piano wire...

We did that in 1969 on the Ho Chi Minh trail. Lessened a lot of bike travel there for a while.

That happens a lot to night riding "snowmobilers" who fail to see a barbed fence or the guy wire from a power pole. It's best to stick to the marked trails...
