LA CRESCENTA (CBSLA.com) A motorcyclist was hurt Wednesday night after getting caught in clear duct tape that had been stretched across the road in La Cañada Flintridge.
The incident happened just before 11 p.m. on Oak Grove Drive near Foothill Boulevard.
Deputies with the Crescenta Valley Sheriffs Station said the tape was placed about four feet in the air. The motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital with injuries.
Authorities said the incident is part of prank, which has been showcased in numerous YouTube videos.
In some videos, cars turn around when they see the tape, while others drive through it.
Some pranksters lay the tape on the road, forcing drivers to stop when it gets tangled in their tires.
People look on YouTube, I know a lot of kids who watch YouTube videos and imitate it. Teenagers and kids they do things like that, but I think that goes too far. Way too far, said resident Beatrix Schwartz.
Ryan Monroe rides his bike in the area and now worries about this type of prank.
It could have been me. If it was night, all I have is a flimsy little bike light, so not so good, he said.
Dessi Sieburth, 10, doesnt find the joke funny.
(They prank people) because they dont know what else to do. Because they just sit inside all day, so they dont know what to do, so thats the only thing that comes to their mind, he said.

Back in the 80s in New Jersey, some kid was harrassing a neighborhood by riding his dirtbike down a set of train tracks after dark. Someone got the bright idea to string piano wire across the tracks. Dont know if their intent was to snag the bike or not, either way the result was thus: Nobody came forward to admit to being the piano wire idiot after the head stopped rolling on the ground. Whoever did this is guilty of murder.

Yup. Every Saturday morning, these two gents taught me a lesson about life. Every episode was a morality tale. To this very day, Clayton Moore's "Lone Ranger Creed" is displayed in my office on parchment paper and framed in leather. Sure miss those guys...

"When I got to Vietnam you would see many of the jeeps that operated in cities like Saigon or Nha Trang had a hachet piece of metal sticking up from the front bumper."
Those were probably leftovers from WW2

We did that in 1969 on the Ho Chi Minh trail. Lessened a lot of bike travel there for a while.

Bet they had to examine the pile of bikers first.

In late 1945 and early 1946, a few Nazi “werewolf” dead-ender guerrillas strung piano wire across German highways to decapitate American GIs riding around in open jeeps and on motorcycles.

This isn’t a “prank”, it is vandalism and sabotage.

It’s the moving vehicle version of putting saran wrap over a toilet hole under the seat.
But the consequences here are far more dangerous.

Duck tape kills?
Ban Duck Tape!
Cities every where could start a massive buy back program, $50 dollar gift cards for every roll turned in.

thanks for the tip!

Nobody came forward to admit to being the piano wire idiot after the head stopped rolling on the ground. That happens a lot to night riding "snowmobilers" who fail to see a barbed fence or the guy wire from a power pole. It's best to stick to the marked trails...

(This is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion or satire; or both.)

Germans did it to. A lot of jeeps had a steel tube or steel
angle mounted on the front bumper that stuck up s couple of feet higher than the drivers head. this was to cut or break wire or light cables.
