Not widely known, this map from Glantz and House "The Battle of Kursk" shows the cascading plans of the Soviet summer and fall offensives. Not all of them came off a planned. The Central fronts were less successful than the Soviet forces in Ukraine.

It is curious to me the Russians did not place any emphasis in this Summer offensive to giving Leningrad more breathing space. Of course, the resources of the Ukraine were immense and a great prize, but Leningrad had been through hell.
