Why is FR repeatedly having this problem? Over & over....
Why cant it be solved once and for all?
Nan! Nan! Nan! Put on your big boy britches, suck a few crawfish heads, and join us children.
“Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can, and
the wisdom to know the difference.”
Thanks for clearing that grammatical subject, Gads...
BTW, love your flag
$uccinct answer is folks like ME not contributing enough. Free Republic operates solely on contributions and to the best of my knowledge and reading experience, has no advertising revenue. It ain’t no clogomerate, it’s more family business of sorts.
In my experience, NO other site comes close to offering the depth of reader contributions and insights that FR does.
I’m sure it would be the truncated threads/missing sidebar issue that’s being discussed in many threads.
Yeah same here.
I every once in a while get a situation where long threads don’t display all the replys.
Other than that, it’s all good.
My compliments to Jim Thompson for the single best site, anywhere on the web.
Uh oh, now you’ve done it! Don’t you know you’re not supposed to question how this site has problems or why and how money is spent.
Prepare to be deluged with “donate more money and/or shut up” posts.
I’ve had no problems using just top and bottom sidebars. I use a pagination of 20 articles, 20 replies, and have had no problems on any browser I use regularly, from Dolphin on the phone, Chrome on the desktop, or Chrome on the tablet.
What might help in these threads is people showing screen shots, so that those like me who have never seen the problems might actually see what others are seeing.
From another thread — post by TomGuy. I followed his recommendation and it fixed the issue for now anyway. Thanks, TomGuy.

FR glitch.
It is not your computer. It is a glitch in the FR software and it happens TOO frequently.
Under your account >> preferences, reset the two page lengths items to 20 and the pages will load.
After they get it fixed (usually takes a couple of hours to a whole day), you can reset the preference numbers to your desired number.

No, it’s two words. :)
They really have turned into a bunch of jerks lately.
I’ve had problems in the past, but none now or recently.
What problem are you talking about?
**************************************
The problem where FR only posts about 10 entries per page. I keep my preferences set to 50. This happens every month or so. The original poster just posted the query with a bit too much flair. And flair is not quite the word I wanted to use.
Now I learned something today, and it isn’t even noon.
Other browsers: safari, opera, IE, firefox, seamonkey, chrome, etc. Take your pick. Might try searching for different browsers, instead of just throwing up your hands...
Free republic should work just fine on any browser, including text-based browsers like lynx or link, as the site is just simple HTML, with nothing fancy (one of the many reasons that is why I like this site).
The problem you are “experiencing” is related to the number of comments and articles you pull up by default. Go to “account” at the top, then “manage my preferences” and then select 20 for thread pagination and browsing. Should fix your problem. The issue here is related to some coding issues/problems deep in the innards of this custom coded-application, and is most likely not fixable (or it would have been fixed years ago).
You can also cut back on the number of “things” that show up in the sidebar, but I don’t remember how to do that... Perhaps someone else could chime in. That should also help.
No, but it requires at least a semicolon if not a full one.
It took me a long time to figure out the problem. But I have the solution! Jim Thompson .... please post again.
Because I don't know how.
I use Safari, but I don’t know if that’s the answer. All I know is other than the slow downs during peak election cycles, I’ve never had andy of the sidebar issues or other things I’ve read people complain about.
I’m not an IT guy either. I wonder, sometimes, if there are liberal hackers that plant cookies in open source browsers to intentionally mess up FR. (paranoia?)
They really have turned into a bunch of jerks lately.
You can say that again! I wonder how many of them are actually liberals come here to stir tings up?
