This happens not infrequently. Have you tried reducing the number of entries per page? There are several ways to approach this that are built in to the FR system, and I’m sure someone will be along soon to list them... What is happening in layman’s terms is that too much info is being input where there’s not enough space, for whatever technical reason...
That'll 'normalize' things for ya till John gives it a good whack eventually (it's only 0412 in CA)
She’s broke again, Cap’n
Can’t scroll down past about 10 messages
Time to charge the dilithium crystals
In addition to post #3 about going to account and checking 20 messages per page, you can go to configure sidebar and you can reduce the number of sidebar headlines and other info that appear in the various categories, and in addition to that, you can make sure your 20 messages per page contain headers only, not the texts of posts. There are built in places to perform these...
Thanks.
Those ideas seem to work on articles but not very well on the main page. I’m patient, I’ll wait.
Sidebar mod is also missing.
Perhaps he took off with it for a bit on a voyage of discovery.
Just sit right back and I’ll tell you a tale..
A tale of a fateful trip.
This is becoming a weekly occurrence.
There’s a Freeperthon happening so weird things “happen” to “help” freepers see the need to contribute.
Define “main page”...
Not only that, but I can’t get to older posts from yesterday
The reason I said “define main page” is that it’s what I believe is the main page that these ideas seem most helpful to address, in my experience. So I wondered if we’re “on the same page” about what is the “main page”?
Many people have observed before that they could get a sidebar only when on the search page, when this stuff happens, just like you observed.
When I have the problem I just know that space is not adequate for information and you have to whittle down the info to as little as possible. Even when I had whittled it down in the past and the problem seemed solved, I’ve had to do so again by using additional options when it recurs.
Once again, we have the “lunch menu”
You’re right. I can get more articles on the main page by switching “Brevity” from “headers” to “text”.
Oops. I mean “text” to “headers”.
If I open an “incognito” window, without logging in, no problem. In cognito, ergo dumb.
tried that - didn’t help
But switching to ‘Headers” helped
If you log in in the incognito window, it’s hosed up again. You can scan the sidebar and scroll down in the incognito window, and copy the url over to the window where everybody knows your nom de freep. This is known in the industry as a work around.
