Stand With Arizona
The border is safer than ever. So DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano has told us the past four years. Again and again.
Barack Obama has mocked those who say the border is unsafe: Maybe theyll need a moat. Maybe theyll want alligators in the moat. Theyll never be satisfied.
But for Texans, the Rio Grande is wide open - thanks to Federal failure to secure it - and is a growing threat to the safety of citizens and law enforcement, on land and water.
Wide open...and violent, as a Congressional delegation visiting the border found out this week. Three Republicans were touring the river on a Texas state gunboat when they spotted a body floating in the river, later determined to be a Honduran national killed by Mexican cartel violence, according to the Randolph Reporter.
It was a shocking sight that dramatized the reason for the three-day trip by a handful of Congressmen to see firsthand the vast immigration problems along the southwest border of the United States.
Congressman Leonard Lance (R-NJ) spoke with the Reporter and is quoted as having said: What impressed me in a tragic, negative way was seeing a dead body in the Rio Grande River. Authorities told us it was probably related to drug trafficking.
Congressman Lance also revealed he and the others from Congress wore bullet-proof vests and traveled the Rio Grande River in armored boats, as U.S. law enforcement routinely are targeted by gunman as they patrol the river.
Texas has been mostly abandoned by the Obama Administration to fend for themselves, and being Texans, they have stepped into the breach to try - with their far more limited resources - to keep their officers and citizens safe.
Last year SWA chronicled how ranchers in the Rio Grande Valley were stocking up on AK-47s to defend their property and lives from border violence, after months of being outgunned by Mexican cartel gunmen.
Then, we reported how, in order to deal with the Federal failure to secure the river and the drug and human smugglers who use it, Texas Department of Public Safety deployed gunboats on the river, armed with major firepower.
Several times last year and again this past March, Texas DPS and Rangers have come under fire from the Mexican side, or from cartel boats right on the river. The cartels have grown increasingly bold and are more heavily armed every few months, as the battle continues to intensify.

Bump
Floating the corpses that American corpses won’t float.
When the government fails to protect the citizens, the citizens have to take matters into their own hands. It looks to me that the federal government has failed, and it’s time for the state of Texas to defend itself against the drug cartels. Texas should call up it’s national guard and arm the local citizens
Was it a WetFront?
Q: How do you make a corpse float?
A: With two scoops of ice cream...
Not every congressman is displeased with the thought of corpses floating down American rivers...
I’ve been saying that for several years. All Perry has to do is declare an emergency then call up the National Guard and seal that border!
It is dangerous. Maybe the Obama Admin. could provide a ferry service for the ILLEGAL invaders/smugglers so fewer of them die by drowning. /s
Maybe SecState can organize some swift boat patrols.
There’s a border? Really?
It isn’t just Texas that has to protect itself from the Mexican drug cartels. For instance, Chicago and its environs are infested with the Mexican drug cartels and their influences.
I know you’re being sarcastic, but with this Administration based on PanderMania, nothing is off the table, so long as it’s done at taxpayer expense, everything is just peachy, peachy.
All Perry has to do is declare an emergency then call up the National Guard and seal that border!”
When pigs fly! AG Abbott who is running for Governor now wants to pass amnesty and Patterson who is running for Lt. Gov. wants to expand the guest worker program. More fine Republican politicians stepping up to the plate to protect Texans.
Headline gives a perfect visual framing.
A: The ones who could swim made it to America...
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Golly gee, where did they get all those guns?
Perry won’t do it because it would call too much attention to how serious and out of control the border problem is. It wouldn’t fit in with the cheap labor people’s push to get amnesty for “the dreamers”. We have not had our immigration laws treated seriously for twenty years because of this ungodly union between cheap labor businesses and the Democrats and of course the two-faced rino Republicans.
I think the Mexican cartels are paying a lot of “rent” to the right people in Chicago and many American cities.
This scene sounds like something that would happen in an episode of Breaking Bad.
