I hadn’t heard anywhere that their phones were in the fire. Maybe the mom’s was?
When he took her to Hollywood, he got mad because she was on her phone constantly so maybe he trashed both their phones after cheerleader practice to stop that. It may not have been to keep her from calling for help... if she were ever so inclined. Not that they’d have much reception in the forest but it’s a guarantee she’d be texting and complaining hauling the camping equipment up from the car. I hope I have to eat my words but her story just doesn’t sit right. Maybe she didn’t know what had happened at the house but I believe she was the one stirring the pot.
Very good questions.
It never occurred to me that they left for Idaho from school. One of my questions was where was she and what was she doing while he was torturing her mother and brother? In the car, waiting?
I wonder if the phones were ever found anywhere.
How does a family let a “friend”, a forty year old man, take such an interest in their 16 yr. old daughter? A lot of red flags were missed on this one. She told her friends he “creeped her out”. Is she a Stockholm syndrome kid? Did she, at her young age, think being nice to his advances would somehow put a stop to it? I’m not going to put all of this on her, it will come out. But if the family allowed this man to be near her, even to the point of driving her to cheerleading practice, then they were terribly naïve.
If not then the police should ask little miss Hannah Idaho.
Afterall she should know what he did with them -- if she has nothing to hide that is.
They already have the ping logs of her 13 phone calls and thus know where he was and she was during each call -- and that alone could be devastating.
I had read one article where it said something like “...13 phone calls in the days and weeks before...”. Still odd, but makes more sense than 13 calls in one day.
He was the best man at their wedding.
Is it possible that he was actually Hanna’s biological father and the mother knew it and thus allowed that closeness to occur???
Is that why he was such a close “family friend” and became chauffeur and go-fer for the family after her father went to live in Tennessee???
13 calls over a few weeks would not be noteworthy for the police BUT 13 calls on that day would be noteworthy particularly if packed together just before the phones were turned off.
There's a picture of her newly done nails. Too distraught to go to the funeral but not so distraught to have her nails done and attend the fundraiser. If there's one camera anywhere within a mile of the funeral, she'll be there. Someone bought her a new cell phone. Did Dad? Who?
Sorry, but you simply don't send 100 texts a month to an old guy who creeps you out. You don't write him letters and you don't go on overnight trips unless whatever you're getting in return outweighs any uncomfortable feelings.
NO ONE has a DNA swab kit in their car unless there's a reason to use it. Notice in the warrant for his house it lists empty handcuff boxes. Were those real handcuffs or sex toy handcuffs? Wonder if her prints are on them. Where are the handcuffs? Also wonder who's underwear was taken as evidence and what might be found on them and the used condoms. Who's shoes, jeans and tank top were taken from his house? I doubt they'd be all that interested in his shoes and socks and a tank top sounds female. Sure, every 40 year old man has balloons, right?
The 13 calls were that day. She made over 700 to him on her phone since the first of the year. That’s 100 a month. 25 a week. 3 a day. What 16 year old calls a 40 year old that often if he truly makes them uncomfortable?
It could be the mother's.
Hannah might have walked in on her mother with her Uncle Jim and gone bananas on her mother especially when she was told that Uncle Jim was really her biological father.
Phones were probably turned off simply so they could not be traced via their gps or phone signal.
The more I hear about this story the more it doesn’t smell right..at first I absolutely believed that she was a victim..I mean look at her and look at him, why the hell would she be interested in a guy like that..but now, after hearing all the newly obtained evidence, the story just stinks to high heaven..will we ever know the truth, who knows..the cops may decide that with DiMaggio dead, there is no point to continuing the investigation..even if DiMaggio and Hannah had a sexual relationship its still statutory rape so either way I guess she’s a “victim” but I think there is much more to this story then we will ever know..if the letters she wrote him are ever released we might have a better idea..and those text messages, no matter if the phone is destroyed the text messages are saved with the phone company, so the police can request a court order for them
Okay - that is weird then.
Or some unknown third party.
Link to Dr. Keith Ablow’s description?
That’s possible but it appears that the family — mother and daughter and son and dog — all spent the weekend up there. So one would expect mother or daughter or ... never mind.
The DNA experts in this case should be kept busy.
BTW, funeral time and place was announced this morning. Mother and son will have a joint funeral next Saturday, the 24th. Right now it is open to the public, but may close later.
Originally, her father said she was moving to Tennessee with him. This morning her school in SD said she is returning first week in September 2013.
I read it, too, in one of the earlier articles,
I saw her ask. whatever social site where she’d posted she was returning to her old school. I don’t know why she’d think that since her dad doesn’t live there unless she’s got it in her head she’s going to live by herself or with a friend.
