An interesting and fun perspective. I think Spirit is one of the few Corps that still runs a 36" Bass.

Here's another one, probably from that same runthrough.

Cool. A lot of people I marched with have kids who have also marched.

That was great, thanks so much for posting it! Man, how I miss those days...:)
I was affiliated with a CYO band (not high school) up here in Massachusetts back in the 70's(pinging my other bass drumming buddy here) and we had a good brand, adhered to the precepts of drum corps
I still think the best repertoires, in this order were:
1.) 1976 Blue Devils
2.) 1975 Madison Scouts
3.) 1975 Muchachos
4.) 1974 Kingsmen
5.) 1975 Santa Clara
Now, I admit these are all clustered in one time frame, but...I have always viewed the mid-Seventies as the golden age of Drum Corps...:)
I remember being up in Sedgewick, ME with some of my friends (we were the kind who listened to drum corps all the time while we were driving around!) during the 1975 finals...we had a little cigarette lighter powered black and white television, and we had to find a high hilltop where we pulled his father's 1974 Gremlin off the road, and one of us had to grab the antenna to get the signal to come in...:)
I joined the Navy, and I made this stencil to spray paint on the back of my flight deck jerseys:
Funny. I simply don't think the Navy would let people do that kind of thing now, but back then they did...:)

The second one was good...boy...I feel like I have marched or practiced on hundreds of fields that looked EXACTLY like that one!

The first one looked like it was sunnier out.

That’s good to go. I don’t think the Marine Corps would let us do that either.

I only got to march in a Drum Corps once...in 1994, and I was 37 at the time!
(27th Lancer Alumni Corps. I had played bass drum originally, then learned to play the trombone later in life...then...the baritone was a short jump for me.)
