the "something major happened" I believe is a DEA no-knock warrant and bad things went down and Walt's family was killed. Hence the machine gun and the ricin. Walt is going to serve up some revenge. (Even though his actions brought about the tragedy!)

you know the house was boarded up by the feds so SOMETHING goes down with them, but Walt is not in jail so...
