Fine with me, as in my experience Acer and Windows go together about as well as Onions and Cap’n Crunch.

I'm working on building trust in Android. I don't like any linux distro that doesn't come with a built-in shell and root access.

I switched from Ubuntu based distros to Fedora based....Like to have root and lots of Windows for Firefox.
This Distro is my current favorite:
Korora Project

Had to get rid of an Acer laptop when a service tech, after repeated calls to Microsoft, was finally given the confidential information that this was one of about FIVE models on the planet where the CPU choked on Vista SP 1.

I use Fedora for things like Radius servers and file servers in headless boxes. For the laptop/desktop, I'm using SUSE.
I'm just not comfortable with Android yet. The init.d file is huge. And it's not in /etc. I've got a lot of studying before I'll be comfortable with Android.
It's not that I don't trust Google, but I don't trust Google.

That depends on the model. Smooth sailing on my i5 Acer Veriton SFF with SSD and 16GB RAM.

Would a “Live Disc” fit on a single CD or would I need a DVD?

Google has a reputation of making sudden changes with little warning or support.
This makes things difficult for the business/corporate user.

Google also has a rep for snooping and sending information back to the mothership without the user being aware.

I don’t know ....Lots of Live Disk’s out there that require a DVD capacity.

I like acer and windows 7 as every pc in this combo has a built in “recovery drive d” which will restore your pc to its factory condition regardless of how many viri, worms, etc. has infected it.
I’ve done it twice and my pc runs like new because it is basically new.

I saw that. At least on a standard linux distro, I can control what goes out to who.
