I have a 1954 Lewyt that still runs, but there are no accessories.

Ditto. We have an Electrolux (circa, 1991) and my spouse swears by it. She paid an eye-popping $1,500 for it and has put me on notice that should it ever fail we'll be forking over a similar amount for an Elextrolux. I have no idea if it's even a good vacuum on a par with similarly priced models, but the wife loves it I guess.
