Nice post, thanks..I caught them a few times in Vegas in the 70's and 80's..they were so good at playing off each other...the timing, the pace, of the duets was perfection. They used to do the Cole Porter song, "Friendship" beautifully.

What's also nice is that they both knew when it was time to retire, exit the stage gracefully, and NOT stay too long at the dance.

I would love to have heard that!

Tommy Dorsey's recording of it sounds as though it was done by a bunch of backwoods hillbillies and is a far cry from the style of the Gentleman of Swing. The woman singing the solo is a very young Jo Stafford.
