Thank you! The conversation I had with the Brit neighbor was started when she commented that Prince William and Kate intended to be “hands on” parents-she liked that. She believes it is a natural result of the royals marrying regular people, and William having a “real” job...

for those of you with on the door icemaker/water dispensers, how often has that been problematic? i am thinking side-by-side and what appears to keep coming up as top rated is a Samsung.

Don’t have problems or issues with my water/ice maker in the door. Love it.

Kenmore side by side, no problems, 4 years old. I think I would have preferred the ones I see on TV with the freezer on the bottom. My GM had one like that years ago.

I don’t think that poor dog really spends any time with King Louis and Michelle Antoinette off-camera. They don’t seem like people who like animals to me-more like people who don’t like anything that tracks dirt, needs attention and care, etc. Remember how the Clintons gave the first cat, Socks away the minute they left the WH? Or that the dog got loose and hit by a car when they got to NY?

People like that don’t have the capacity to care for any creature but themselves...

so i guess that is called a french door refrigerator, that is side by side for refrig and freezer on the bottom. i was ruling that out, but that’s looking more appealing as far as more space. do you have icemaker on the door?

what brand and how long have you had it.
VERY hard to figure out what to get, online reviews make it sound like the on the door icemaker is a nightmare situation! each that i have seen highly reviewed, i have then seen horrible reviews for. Seems like a crap shoot all the way around.

Ice and water on the door. Changing the water filter on the bottom is a pain but we only do it once a year at the most.

ok, i am feeling better about it then. you, as well as my brother, would be very practical about something like this, so i trust your judgment : )
not dissing anyone else’s but i know SG to be tight with a buck!! my dad’s philosophy and one that my brother inherited, is that the more moving parts there are the more likely it is that something will go wrong. He’s got an icemaker/water on the door too.

Hey, I’m thrifty! I come by it honestly, since my GM came over on the boat, from Scotland.

I'd think hard about buying a side-by-side. Limits the size of what you can put in.

I would beware of the flat-top cooktop. Fragile and only works with certain types of metal pans. My mom bought one and hated it.

yes, i think i am more inclined now to the french door fridge bc you have double doors but the entire width of the fridge.

Yes.

I know nothing about gas cooking, as I have always had electric stoves.

Except for that one year in college we rented an apartment. Not a lot of cooking went on there.
