She gave it the shaft.
One of Karen Goulds first acts as president of Brooklyn College was to thrust $107,000 into creating a new school logo because the old clock-tower silhouette was supposedly too phallic looking, insiders said.
Just months after Gould took the helm of the institution in 2009 as its first woman president, the college hired Baltimore-based Neustadt Creative Marketing to draft a new logo and redo the Web site.
The company soon cut all visual references to the seminal symbol of the La Guardia Hall tower, erected in the 1930s.
The new logo was all words: Brooklyn College in large type, with The City University of New York in smaller letters.
The design firm, which was hired without a bidding process or request for proposals, claims its work was cutting-edge.

"The company soon cut all visual references to the seminal symbol of the La Guardia Hall tower, erected in the 1930s." Cannot be a coincidence. Seminal clearly isn't the right word.

erected in the 1930s.Heh heh, heh heh. "Erected".
The clock tower at Brooklyn College is reminiscent of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, so I can see why it would be offensive to the liberals there.
At least back in the 80s, the liberals there still had some pride. Sure, they were still commie pinkos, but they had some sense of pride.
They should've just gone back to using La Guardia Hall as the logo, or use the clock tower but not as a silhouette.

The media is run by stupid teenage girls, for stupid teenage girls - of every age level.
It's the NY Post. Pretty tame, actually, by their standards.

I would have created this logo for $60,000 and saved then $47,000 if they asked.

Walking around Sydney, Australia years ago, we passed two guys wearing their scaffolding company logo shirts....the great part is that in Oz, "scaffolding" is called "erections".
I wanted to buy 'em right off their backs, but wifey shooed me away.

Goes to show you once again, the dumbest people in America are the presidents of colleges. I’ll bet she brags about how hard she’s been “working to keep tuition low.”

So will she have the clock tower redesigned too? Btw, why not show the new logo in this article?
