There are two extinction level events for the Republican party coming up in the next few months: Amnesty and the Defunding of Obamacare. We need to get together and put a stop to the GOPs drive towards suicide with an event that they and the Media cannot ignore. But, we need to establish some basic rules for these gatherings mainly that these events need to be on weekends and publicized enough to maximize attendance. There is nothing more frustrating to behold than an event lightly attended simply because it was on too short a notice and on a weekday ..
Is it too much to ask that we just decide to follow two simple rules on demonstrations on weekends or holidays and with at least 1 months notice? Lets face it, we dont have access to the government paid rent a mobs the left is able to muster at a moments notice. Most people on our side have productive day jobs and when a Demonstration is set for a weekday, it severely cuts down on who can attend.
A gathering of people on a weekend increases our numbers without too much effort Saturdays being more preferable. Most people need time to learn of an event and make plans to attend. When such events occur on a weekday when people are trying to be productive, its a double whammy in the PR department. If fact, having protest on a weekday with only a few days notice can have the opposite effect desired the leftists and the media (sorry to be redundant there) will play up any light attendance against us.
Now, with that out of the way, what can we plan to counteract the Republican partys headlong rush to oblivion? Anyone have any ideas as to a gatherings or series of gatherings to show the GOP we are displeased with their surrender mentality?
Its called preserving Liberty and Freedom just as weve always done.
And Im taking about stopping Amnesty why are you misquoting me on that point?
You’re so right!
God bless and keep you.
Those are some good ideas, thanks for your input.
The media will try to ignore whatever they can but numbers are always a powerful persuader.
If a tree falls in the forest and the media is not there to cover it, did it happen?
Stop making sense.
We are far better off, IMO, by contributing to and supporting conservative politicians, especially at the local level. And confronting Lib pols whenever possible. Tip O'Neil once said, "All politics is local." He was only half-right. All politics is personal.
I've been involved for years and years and get to "complain".
I was the central coordinator for the first Free Republic sponsored event called, "March For Justice".
I have been on streets with a bullhorn in my hand for other causes (local and fed);
I have been to other Free Republic activities for both local and Fedgov;
I have contributed to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) as far back as 1987, when no one realized the growing problem;
I was a Minuteman for the Southwest and went to Tombstone to patrol the border;
I helped the co-founder (Jim Gilchrist) to help build his database.
I've done more local stuff, but I won't go on.
I've done my part, but no longer believe that local politics is the answer. People who aspire to politics are those who want control whatever their ideology, even if in THEIR minds they believe they are doing good. They always think that change will be for the good. In their need for betterment or relevancy they never look at the untended consequences down the road.
You ask what's my solution? Here it is:
That would not only wake up DC, but would have a big impact from there down to the local city council. Those States who did such, could possibly change the system.
I have many other ideas, but won't go into them again as I have for years on this board. However, I will continue to "complain" about the state of our Nation, and the state of my State (CA), and the state of our local City Council and Planning Commission.
Although most politicians take an Oath to support and defend the United States Constitution, it is just words so they can bring about their misguided CHANGE. That word is not an Obambi concept; he just took it further than others.
We needed little CHANGE to our system as was put in place in 1787.
I could write an essay to reply, but instead will refer you to "President Ronald Reagan" and his words about a shining city on the hill. If just ONE Republican candidate mirrored President Reagan in the next general election, we might have a chance to turn things around.
But no: the Doles, McCains, Rommneys have forgotten why Reagan beat Carter so badly. We were in a "malaise", as we are NOW. Reagan gave us genuine hope.
Yes, we had a large "gimme" class even then, but some voted for Reagan because they knew he would take us back to our greatness. Who doesn't love a great coach? Remember Reagan Democrats? Many are still there. It's just a matter of sincerity and oration (the style or manner in which such a speech is given.), which Obambi has lots of to fool the ill-informed. If we are to reclaim our Republic, we need such an orator. If not...
Really?
Those are your ideas on how to plan conservative protests and events?
That has never worked in the past, and will not work in the future.
What does work are old fashioned FReeper counter-protests, and supportive designated “action days”, such as the Chik FiL A buy-cott.
Since many conservatives work for a living, I think a national “income tax boycott” might be very effective.
Say, starting September 30, everyone who has a job, submits a revised W-9 to their employer, and everyone claims 17 exemptions.
(In honor of the dead SEALs of mission Extortion 17 )
On October 31, we can all go back under the complete controll of the IRS...if we want, after we all determine we made an accounting error.... Tell me, what do you think of that idea?
I agree with you that the GOP needs a Reagan but don't agree that we should turn into a banana republic if the GOP can't find one. Reagan won with the support of Reagan Democrats, as you mentioned. Republican since then just keep voting to export the jobs of the Reagan Democrats. Apparently a good Wall Street is more valuable than winning elections.
No, those are some basic parameters to maximize our numbers.
There is almost no point in having a little publicized event on a weekday that few can attend in fact it can be counterproductive in that the Leftists will seize on a small turnout.
The Leftists have the media than can spin 10 people showing up as one hundred, we cant.
:-)
