Neutrophils, the newly identified cellular source of the protein, are the major component of the pus that forms around injured tissue. All my life I have drained pus from any kind of sore or wound. Does this mean I have been doing it wrong for 60+ years, and I should encourage the pus to stick around?
Doesn't seem reasonable to me. If I get an infected hair, pulling the hair and draining the pus produces an overnight cure. Not doing this leads to an open sore that lasts for many days.
