I have been in Texas all my life and I think I now know more Korean than Spanish.

Why not? It’s a big old interesting world out there.
I took some history courses in college from a professor who was from Korea. He was mixed race; his family had been Presbyterian missionaries there for several generations. I also studied Japanese. In Texas ;-).
