Well, it’s what I would do. I mean, back in the day, the only recourse we had into learning about the company was word of mouth and maybe a prospectus. These days, it’s all on the interwebs, and a person really DOES need to learn all s/he can about a potential employer.
He can rest assured that they are checking HIM out, including facebook and any other social sites he may visit. The will also check his DMV records and any transcripts for classes he has taken, not to mention his home schooling.
He would do well to be as informed as possible. It will stand him in good stead in his life, from the date of his first hire to the day he sets up a retirement fund of some kind. Or goes to buy a home.
He’s cheating himself if he doesn’t do all he can to make this “first REAL job” count for the rest of his life.
