Americans have always been viewed as arrogant. As a spectator, I have always seen them more as clueless, undisciplined and totally ignorant of basic manners.
In the 1950s we had the "Ugly American."

In 2013 we have the "Clueless American." Officially.

Should he have been killed? Absolutely not!
Could he have used better judgment and avoided the personal tragedy? Absolutely.

Condolences to his family and friends.

That’s only true if the question is “Who do Californians dislike most?”

I’ve spent collectively about seven years outside the U.S. and I’ve never sensed any animosity aimed at me, perhaps you’re projecting.
