A U.S. business owner was killed in Thailand after going onstage to sing with a band.
What was supposed to be a fun vacation in Bangkok turned into a nightmare for one family.
Bobby Ray Carter, 51, of Texas, his wife Kelly, and their 18-month-old daughter Sadie, traveled to Thailand to celebrate Mr. Carter’s birthday. The Carters were meeting up with several other couples including Carter's adult son. The group went out to the Longhorn Saloon bar at the Ao Nang beach in Krabi province in Thailand.

Getting into fights with the locals in a foreign venue is not terribly wise. One does not know the laws, customs, or poclivities.
Sounds like a case of Darwin Awardism to me. OK, he didn’t deserve to be killed for being a total s$$hole, but sometimes a little chlorine is just what the gene pool needs.
Wrong country. Singing that at a karaoke in the Philippines, will get you killed. I have never been able to understand why, but it is true.
Oh horseshit. The only Thais at Ao Nang are those employed there and thus dependent on foreigner’s money. Thais don’t go around looking for people to kill because of their precious white skin.

I’d say something awful was inevitable.
That does not excuse how far some took the whole affair, but if a tourist from anywhere to anywhere wants to know what NOT to do, this story has some object lessons.
Your previous comment implied they did not sing - they DID and after a few songs were asked to finish . Simple request . And you also said the Thai police did nothing . The perps were arrested !
Folks are murdered onthe streets of the USA for less . You can get murdered for just being a white person walking in the wrong neighborhood .
