“Dogs, however, do pant like that when they’re hot. “

So do cats. I’ve seen it happen, but if they reach the point of panting they’re REALLY hot.

When I first moved to AZ (from CA) it was over the July 4th weekend (94) and I did not have air conditioning in my car. About when we hit Yuma, my poor cat was in the back panting like that. Luckily, my dad had air conditioning in his truck and took her for the rest of the journey.

We have never allowed any of our cats to go outside except my Rocket, who always kept close to me when I took him out. He was quite ill for the last three years of his life, so I only let him out in pleasant weather.

I didn’t know that cats panted in the heat as dogs do.

Thanks for the eddymakashun.
