Harper is indeed a miracle puppy she has defied death twice. A woman in Sanford, Florida saved her the first time when she noticed a wriggling bag being held by a man selling puppies in a Save-a-Lot parking lot. She asked him what was in the bag, but he refused to show her. She persisted, and he handed the bag to her, revealing a deformed puppy. Had this laudable woman not intervened, the puppy would have suffocated.
When Harper was rescued from the trash bag, she wasnt given much of a chance for survival. She has pectus excavatum (literally meaning hollowed chest), or swimmer puppy syndrome. Most dogs born with this condition survive only a few days, or weeks at best. She couldnt walk or even hold her head up.
Veterinarians and shelter staff agreed that it would be for the best if the puppy was put to sleep. But Erica Daniel, a regular at the shelter, wanted to take her home to give the little girl one final day, with all the love and comfort she could know in her short life. ...

Aw, thanks so much, cyn!
We adopted a little dog who was also crippled. The people who rescued her had her right hip removed and she got water therapy. Now she is one of the fastest dogs in the park. A real joy for us.
A great story to end the day with!
Thanks for the ping.
sure! This is a welcome diversion from ... you know. What a wonderful reminder of the redeeming power of love in this world of evil.
Jesus was born 2000 years ago so should FR close all of the religion related threads?
A rather miniature bundle of Joy!!
TLC and water therapy — great combo! But how does she run without the hip?
I realized it reminds me of a cartoon dog with the grin and the blue/grey eyes.
hi, Eaker — I was glad to have the 2 yrs pointed out; I think that was the only point being made. It’s good to know that Harper has been doing well now for all that time.
Today was a good day for shooting in FL, btw :o)
INDEED it does!!
All exubarance..innocence..and Love!
this is why they are our best friends
“Cmon. We all need a few feel good stories amongst all the madness.”
I was being absolutely and completly serious. I have three dogs and I love them like children.
Seven dropped her squeaky toy and watched the video with me...and wagged her tail.

I am happy for the dog. Even posted a brave-hero-dog story not too long ago that was not-so-happy at its conclusion, and was flamed a bit because it turned out that it had been posted previously. No, I was merely pointing out the time difference from the original story to the posting, as I am certain that there are hundreds more recent stories that could be posted along a similar vein.
On your Jesus question: China has had several dynasties come and go for a couple of thousand years as well. So has India. That does not necessarily mean that there should be immediate and recurring postings concerning either on this site, no matter how some might enjoy them.
I happen to enjoy feel-good animal stories. I also happen to have several tens of megs of saved FR threads going back to well before Y2k that are quite interesting and some that are knee-slappingly funny I believe. However I try to keep My postings at least fairly recent, and fully intend to keep My own counsel and feel that if I think something is interesting enough should put up My own blog to post them on.
By the way, anyone know where I can get one of those (I think they are made of felt) Viking Kitty hats with the fake horns and beard? I would love to get My hands on one and take several pictures of at least one pet wearing it... *grin*
VIKING KITTY PING!
...is what inspired Me.
