Well can anybody answer this? I've been spending a lot of time on Long Island lately, somewhat near the JFK airport in Queens. Anyway, the airplanes stacked up over Long Island waiting to land at JFK are huge!

One huge plane after another. None of those little 737s that you see landing at all those other airports or not even the big fat jumbo airliners like the 747. No, what I see are long slender planes like that pictured below. One after another after another.

The plane in the photo is an Airbus A-340.

I’m not an expert of airlines but this airplane looks like an Airbus A340. I would expect the holding pattern is shifted to LI either because of weather or perhaps because of a restrict area such as the President’s vacation. The controllers have to keep all air traffic away and that traffic has go somewhere else. Regards.
