J.J. Cale has died from a heart attack at the age of 74.
The death of the legendary Grammy Award winning singer songwriter was announced on his Facebook page today.
Weve lost a great artist and a great person tonight. JJ Cale passed away at 8:00 pm on Friday July 26 at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, CA. He had suffered a heart attack. There are no immediate plans for services. His history is well documented at JJCale.com , http://www.rosebudus.com/cale/ and in the documentary, To Tulsa And Back. Donations are not needed but he was a great lover of animals so, if you like, you can remember him with donations to your favorite local animal shelter.
J.J. Cale was best known for the songs After Midnight and Cocaine, covered by Eric Clapton as well as Crazy Mama and Call Me The Breeze.

J.J. Cale Death Hoax Dismissed Since Singer Is Alive And Well.
On Friday (July 26) the singer’s reps officially confirmed that J.J. Cale is not dead. He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet, they said.
Some fans have expressed anger at the fake report saying it was reckless, distressing and hurtful to fans of the much loved singer. Others say this shows his extreme popularity across the globe.
Crazy Momma is one of my favorite songs to play.
Supposedly he died at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla. And it was announced on Cale’s Facebook page [which I saw]

Yikes, the guy's barely cold and already they're dissing him.
That would be a pretty elaborate hoax since I got an email from his agency, The Rosebud Agency.

Very talented and under rated. RIP JJ.
RIP JJ
I sure don’t know that real story. I just saw in the comments section of the article that people are calling it a hoax. Unbelievable how much misinformation gets spread these days.
It’s like Abraham Lincoln said “ Don’t believe everything you read on the internets”.
source?
I remember reading on his offical board about 10 years ago a posting from his representative/agent at the time that they had no way of contacting JJ but had to wait for him to call them. He apparently lived in a trailer with no phone. So anything is possible but I highly doubt the agency would send out that info without knowing.
RIP, JJ.
One of the few, perhaps the only, popular musician I have every album of.
